The first ever Big PASIC Abseil happened on Saturday 16th July, raising over £9,600 for children with cancer in the East Midlands.

27 fabulously brave fundraisers joined us in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside to throw themselves from the top of Millers Dale Bridge.

Lots of people watched from the top as one-by-one we were strapped into harnesses and, with shaking legs, climbed over the barrier. Suspended some 90 feet above the river below there were a few last minute doubts. But with some great encouragement from Abseiling Derbyshire all 27 participants took the leap and made it safely to the bottom.

Event organiser Harriet, said: “This is the first time we’ve held an event like this so we were blown away by the enthusiasm and support shown. I’m so proud of everyone who took part, especially those who had a fear of heights. They’ve done something amazing to help children with cancer and together we’ve raised an incredible amount.”

The PASIC Team – Harriet, Louise & Toria – had a go too.

“Well what can I say other than, thank you for a super morning and for your encouragement and support. I was thrilled to actually have done it and to see how much we have all raised together. Your constant reassurance, along with the two super ladies in our group, who also offered support and encouragement, was invaluable in getting me off the ledge!”

Thank you for such a wonderful day, as nervous as we all were (and we were!!), we absolutely loved it. The organisation, the friendliness of you guys, and the guys from Abseiling Derbyshire. You all made us feel so much more at ease. A wonderful setting, a wonderful cause, and a wonderful day! Thank you so much for letting us be a part of it, I’m so glad we all did.”

Katrina from Mapperley All Stars (PASIC sports club supporter)

Following the success of the event we’ll be organising more fundraising events soon, so if you’ve been inspired to get involved, watch this space! Or email if you’d like to organise your own fundraising challenge.Abseil collage
