Meet Emma, one of the dedicated Family Support Workers at PASIC! At PASIC, we understand the challenges families in the East Midlands face when dealing with childhood cancer. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring no family ever feels alone in their journey. Our Family Support Workers, like Emma, play a crucial role in this mission by providing personalised support directly to families.

Get to know Emma better through her Q&A session, and discover the difference she makes in her role at PASIC.

What is your job role?

I’m a Family Support Worker!

How long have you worked at PASIC?

I started in March 2023, so about a year now.

What element of your job do you most enjoy?

Being able to bring a smile to a child’s face, especially when you know they’re going through treatment or have been admitted unexpectedly. I really enjoy being able to lift their spirits when they’re feeling low. It’s a big part of what we do.

What is your favourite memory in the role?

There was a little girl who had been seriously unwell, a couple of months later she was able to attend the PASIC Christmas party and it was amazing to see her dancing and having fun in light of how ill she had been such a short while ago.

What’s your favourite food?

Sunday Roast Chicken Dinner (with my husband’s roast potatoes!)

Describe yourself in three words …

Fun-loving, Friendly & Cheerful!

Describe the perfect way you’d spend one of your days off …

I’d love to spend it going to a family festival! Nothing beats sunny weather, yummy food, and good music. I do really love a silent disco too so that would be a runner up!

What’s one skill you would love to learn?

Both my daughters dance and I’d love to be able to too! I’m a big fan of Strictly Come Dancing so maybe ballroom dance in particular!

What’s your favourite movie?

It’s a tough tie between the recent Wonka, although I do also really love The Notebook!
